It is a tradition of Daiji Rang Mandir to identify talent, achievement and honor Konkani and Tulu artistes who visit the Emirates from any part of the world. Nearly two-and-half hours was spent with the Tulu ace artiste, playwright, actor director and Mangalore's BIG FM Radio Jockey Dev Das Kapikad, which turned into a memorable occasion indeed. In the course of the function he shared his rich experience with the audience, which comprised mostly the artistes and committee members of various associations around UAE.

Kapikad and his wife Sharmila arrived on 30th Jan from Mangalore to participate in the Tulu twin play sensations 'Dever Nadapaver' and 'Suddi Malpodchi' to be staged on Friday Feb 1, 2008 at the Nashawan hall of Al Nasr Leisure land in the city. The remaining troupe is expected to arrive on Thursday Jan 31st morning. The play is being organized in here by Tulu Koota Dubai under the leadership of C R Shetty.

He also spoke at length about his future plans like acting in a movie, producing serials and starting an academy for budding stage artistes back home in Mangalore.

A one minute silence and prayer was requested by Kapikad during his speech as a mark of respect to the late Madhav Shakti Nagar, a veteran Tulu stage artiste who passed away in Mangalore on Jan 29, 2008. During the interactive session with the audience, Kapikad responded to several interesting questions. In his address Walter Nandalike hailed the achievement of Kapikad and appreciated his contribution to the Tulu stage since the past 21 years.

Ashok Purohit, a renowned astrologer, Herman Lewis , CEO of 105.4 FM Radio, Daiji Dubai sponsors Joseph Mathias, Frank Fernandes, Harish Sherigar, Tulu Koota, Billawa Balaga, and various regional association heads and office bearers were present.
