Mangalore, Feb 1: A rumour that a young boy has climbed an electrical pole to commit suicide left police and the journalists in the City running from pillar to post on Thursday afternoon.
It was in the SP office premises, that a man in his late 40s rushed to Superintendent of Police Satheesh Kumar himself, who had just inaugurated programme of a voluntary organisation at about 1 pm. The man soon narrated a story of how a boy has climbed the electric pole near Rosario School to commit suicide. Taking note of the issue SP immediately rung up Pandeshwar police station to take action. Even the fire police and the MESCOM were informed to be prepared to handle the situation.
While all necessary preparations were made in snap of a finger, the informer walked his way towards Pandeshwar Police station while the journalists followed him. He went to the station while a bunch of reporters wandered on the street clueless spotting every electric poles.
After a while the informer was taken by a policeman on a bike towards Mangaladevi Temple only to return within few minutes.
The informer who directed the policeman towards Mangaladevi temple supposedly stopped him near a telephone pole and pointed at the pole saying the boy was about to commit suicide there. When the policeman enquired him about his whereabouts he informed that he came from Wenlock Hospital. Suspicious of his mental health the police let him go as he must have created a cock and bull story seeing a lineman or electrical worker working on the pole.
