Puttur, Feb 5: After the grand success of ‘Dirvem Wilfy Nite’ in Mangalore on Sunday January 13, ‘Dirvem’ staged 241st ‘Wilfy Nite’ at Mother of God church grounds, here on Sunday February 3 evening. Both the nites were organized in order to mobilize funds for further expansion of weekly and undertake social welfare activities for the benefit of the poorest among the community,
John A Monis, editor and publisher of ‘Dirvem’ Konkani weekly, welcomed the gathering for the scintillating musical extravaganza.
Around 18 hit songs of Wilfy, ‘Mog Karin Konknechom’, ‘Mojem Kalij Mogar Podlam’, ‘Marina’, ‘Ami Poinari’, ’Gretta Itta’, ‘Va Va Mobile’, ;Raath Jalea Jeevanant’, ‘Kaljachea Darar Bodaitha’, ‘Kani Yeka Avoichi’, ‘Indianth Naval Ghadlam’, ‘Bhurgeaponna’, ‘Johny Johny’, ‘No Vacancy’, ‘’Kutmachen Navn Sanganakam’, ‘Mog Thujo Kithlo Axelom’, ‘Kasale Haba Nasheeb’, ‘O Bele! O Bele’, by Konkani music maestro, Wilfy Rebimbus, Konkani melody queen, Meena Rebimbus, Babitha Pinto, Melvyn D’Souza, Munita Veigas, Prem Lobo, Claude D’Souza, Srikanth Kamath, Ester Noronha, Rolph D’Souza and Melita D’Souza kept the Sunday audience glued to their seats to the end.
The dance troupe of Thunder Guys Dance Academy, Bajpe,were at their best mesmerizing the large gathering while Dolla – Kulla and MeRoRi troupe, entertained the audience with the choicest of jokes and mimicry of national and bollywood heroes.
Pappan and Joswin, the veteran musicians scored music for the memorable musical extravaganza.
A brief stage programme was held during the interval when John A Monis, editor and publisher of ‘Dirvem’ Konkani weekly, felicitated Fr Gerald D’Souza, parish priest of Mother of God church, in recognition of his support in staging the ‘Wilfy Nite’ in Puttur. Besides, he also acknowledged the assistance of writer, EfezDarbe and Valerian Monteiro, Ronald Monteiro.
A large number of Konkani buffs from Vittal, Sullia and Bantwal, attended ‘Wilfy Nite’, which was held in Puttur, after the gap of 2 decades. Leslie Rego Bendore compered the programme.
