Mangalore: Indonesian Delegation  Meets Mangalorean Entrepreneurs

Mangalore, Feb 7: An interactive meeting  was held with the representatives of  the Aceh province of Indonesia at  the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on various  business possibilities between two the two places, on the evening of  Thursday, February 7 .

Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Nazar, vice-governor of Aceh,  an area badly affected  by the Tsunami, said   “Aceh province is  a major producer of plantation crops like Cocoa, rubber, palm etc. but it lacks processing techniques and machinery. Entrepreneurs of Dakshina Kannada and Aceh can join together to fulfill the technical needs of Aceh.”  He also  invited the KCCI office bearers to Aceh to explore the business possibilities there.

 









Speaking about the developments after  the great Tsunami disaster, Graham Harris, programme manager of International Finance Corporation (IFC) at Aceh, said , “a total of 6 billion US dollars have been spent there.” He further said  that the province had made  big changes in the last 12 months and has taken its emergency  tag away. He also said that over 5000 shelters were built for the homeless.  “ At this stage the province is looking towards  long term economic development.” he said.

KCCI president Kumble Narasinha Prabhu and other office bearers and officials of Campco, MCF  were present on this occasion.
