Mangalore: Shimunje Parari, B N Rao Among Tulu Sahitya Academy Awardees

Mangalore, Feb 28: Noted personalities of Tulu art and literature Shimunje Parari (S M Shetty), Mumbai, B N Rao Boloor (Boloor Narayan Rao), Sannakka Banglegudde, Kadri Navaneet Shetty and Naveenkumar Marike have been chosen for the prestigious Tulu Sahitya Academy Awards.
Honorary awards will be presented to Shimunje Parari for his significant contribution to Tulu literature, B N Rao for Tulu play and movie, Banglegudde for Tulu folklore while book prizes will be presented to Navaneet Shetty for his Tulu play 'Maime' and Naveenkumar Marike for his research book 'Kattalininda.'

Dr B A Vivek Rai, vice-chancellor of Mysore University and Karnataka State Open University will give away the honorary awards while Nadoja Dr De Javare Goda, senior Mysorean and renowned litterateur will present the book prizes.
The award presentation ceremony will be held at 5 pm on Sunday March 2 at Kalamandir, Mysore. The programme will be organized in association with Dakshina Kannada district sangha, Mysore.
Ka Ta Chikkanna, joint director of Kannada and culture department, Bangalore, will be the honorary guest. Sudhakar Shetty, president of Dakshina Kannada district sangha, Mysore and editor of 'Sankrati' journal will be the chief guest of the occasion. M K Sitaram Kulal, president of state Tulu Sahitya Academy will preside over the programme.

Cash award of Rs 10,000 along with shawl, flower, beetle nut, a memento and a citation will be presented to winners of honorary awards. Cash award of Rs 5,000, a memento and a citation will be presented to winners of book prizes.
Tulu light music by K V Ramesh and troupe and dance depicting Tulu culture by Geeta Saralaya will be performed as part of cultural programmes on the occasion.
