Muscat, Feb 29:
Tulunadu Theatre enthusiasts residing in the Sultanate of Oman had a great feast of entertainment with a high class Tulu Drama “Anchilath Inchilath” (Neither here nor there) presented by Tulunadu’s premier theatre group – Lakumi Troupe.  This was their 210th show of the social entertaining drama presented by one of the well-known theatre personality of coastal Karnataka Lion Kishor D Shetty.

Lakumi theatre troupe, Mangalore boasts of having stalwarts of Tulunadu theatre, has performed more than 1,500 shows of nine various social plays in the short span of five years and thus, entertaining the innumerable audience of Karnataka, Mumbai, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.

Before writing about the play, it is worthwhile to mention the tremendous efforts rendered by the organizers and main coordinators of the show.  Muscat’s “The Four Awesome” of Tulunadu who worked relentlessly to present some of the finest tulu plays in the past many years, P B Alke, S K Poojary, Ramesh Shettigar and Ashok Suvarna, were the main coordinators for this scintillating drama also. The time and energy spent by these four gentlemen were clearly visible in every corner of the theatre and minute arrangements carefully made at the venue.

Since the announcement of the play made in the local press and www.daijiworld.com, there was a overwhelming response from all over Muscat and even theatre enthusiasts from Sohar, Shinas and Liwa (200 – 250 kms from Muscat) came to watch this play. As per the organizers, tickets were sold well in advance, a rare thing to happen in the sector of Tulu Drama in Muscat and before the commencement of the show ‘House full’ board was displayed at the entrance.

The huge Le Grande Hall of Al Falaj Hotel at Ruwi was not sufficient to accommodate the theatre lovers and as per the official information, there were many could not attend the show due to non-availability of entry passes. The arrangements made by “the Awesome Four”  P B Alke, S K Poojary, Ramesh Shettigar and Ashok Suvarna in association with NPA Events  was really great and well appreciated by audience.

“Anchilath Inchilath” play was formulated on a simple family story of any Indian household but brilliant acting and marvelous screen play made all the difference.  The story narrated a tiny neighborhood of Mangalore of three families. It was mainly based on a widow of two grown up sons and her difficulties and struggle to survive. The elder son, Purusha, though an alcoholic but has adopted great virtues of life and supports his mother in many ways. The younger one was the bread earner and had married to an arrogant girl. The story took many turns creating an interest among the viewers and ultimately, as typical Hindi film ends, concluded with family get-together and that was called “Happy Ending”

The real word of appreciation should go to the simply brilliant direction by Kulasdha Arase and Kusaladha Esal Naveen D Padil. It became the hallmark of the show and probably, inspiration to all the artistes to present or perform their roles as required. Naveen D Padil’s performance as the elder brother was so much natural that even some people must have thought he was the real alcoholic when arrived for the first time. The performance by Suresh Manjeshwara as blind Dharma, Sundar Rai Mandara as Monappa, Tulunada Ratna Dinesh Attavara as Susheela was really praiseworthy. The other members of cast were Anand Bolar, a versatile actor and theatre personality, Vasanth V Amin, Anil Rai Uppala, Dharmendra Amin, Girish Shetty Ichlamgod, Naveen Shetty Alake, Chandrahasa Kadri, Rajesh Manjeshwara, Sobha Shetty, Asha Marnad and Thejaswin Mangala. The script for the plays was written by Naveen Shetty Alake. Nimal Kumar’s music was well-synchronized to the requirement.

The stage setting created by Divakar Shetty of Multitech Contracting LLC was very attractive. NPA Events in association with Al Falaj Hotel had organized the event.
