Puttur: Koti-Chennaya Kambala goes on Amidst Bevy of Sandalwood Stars

Puttur, Mar 3: Jaya Karnataka Party founder and industrialist Muttappa Rai has said that his party was founded not for political benefit but to raise voice whenever Kannada is under threat and to lend a helping hand to the down trodden.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of Koti-Chennaya kambala here on Sunday March 2.
He further said that sports that enjoy recognition and popularity are supported by people but no one comes in support of local sports such as kambala. 'Being a son of this soil, I am concerned about the upkeeping of the culture of this land and hence extend wholehearted support to kambala,' he said.
The kambala which began on Sunday March 2 will end on Monday March 3.The valedictory ceremony will be organised by Muttappa Rai.8
In the evening a stage programme was organized in which film actors, political leaders, social and religious leaders were present. The chief guest was former union minister C M Ibrahim, former MLA Dinesh Gundurao.
The highlight of the event was the presence of actor Jaggesh, Duniya film actor Vijay and actress Bhavana. Dr Mohan Alva, Vasu Poojary, Anand Shetty and international kabaddi player Rose Mary Precilla were honoured by Muttappa Rai. Rekha Muttappa Rai was also present.
Kambala committee honorary president Vinay Kumar Sorake delivered the introductary address while committee president N Chandrahas Shetty welcomed the gathering and Satish Nayak proposed the vote of thanks.
