Its wonderfull to see all these beautiful images from my beloved college. I had a wonderful time when I was a student in SJEC. The place was so great with its teachers who were so knowledgeable and passionate. Its great canteen, where the food was so good it could compete with any of the restaurants in town.

I enjoyed all the various functions that took place at SJEC where the guests shared their kind words of wisdom, which seemed to go on and on. But again SJEC wouldnt be the same without all its great teachers, teachers like Mr.Demello, Mrs. Sridevi, Mr. Anthony and also Mr. Rio Dsouza. Without these teachers the SJEC experience wouldnt be the same.

Thank you Daijiworld for the beautiful pictures and the report. During the speech Pramod N Fernandes, (Director HR, IBM) quoted that the non-performing employees/candidates will be “thrown out from the company”. I guess he was trying to cover up the significant number of lay-offs that occurred in IBM recently.

Though they called it performance based, every one in the industry knew it is due to down-turn of US economy. Performance based lay-offs came into picture in the year 2001 when there was Economy slow down in US and it is again surfacing when there is a Economy slow down. It is known that IBM laid-off, especially large number of freshers, whom they recruited for the projects/business expected in coming years, which probably may not commence due to Economy crisis.

Also he quoted that “you have to study yourself and show excellence”, I guess this is what the students have to do during their engineering courses, else the college will demonstrate the poor result as it happened recently. Probably this is happening because of having majority of inexperienced/fresh graduate Lecturers in the Departments.

Of-course I agree that it is a costly affair to have experienced Lecturer’s too. I hope the St. Joseph’s management will realize the short comings and takes corrective measures in the future. We are very proud to have a engineering collage in our community and I say all the best for its growth.
