Mangalore, Apr 5: The third and final phase of 'Samudayadatta Shale', a community schooling programme, as part of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (education for all) will be undertaken on Wednesday April 9 and Friday April 11, informed Chamegowda, deputy director of public instruction (DDPI) (administration), while speaking to media persons at the zilla panchayat here on Friday April 4.
Chamegowda said, 'This programme has been designed with utmost care. The prime agenda of the schooling scheme is to bridge the gap between parents and students. All measures will be undertaken to convince parents to be inspired to send their children to school, at any cost. Improving attendance and imparting qualitative education will be the top priority area of the final phase programme,' he stressed.
Another measure worthy of consideration as part of the programme will be the delegation of work to a resource person who will be considered for overseeing the workings of the programme. Diaries will be distributed to each student and teachers will be instructed to write about the progress of each student, Chamegowda briefed.
Encapsulating the objectives and goals of the programme Chamegowda said, 'The aim of the programme is to bring to the fore the hidden talent of the students. 928 primary schools and 152 high schools will be covered under this programme. Assessing the capacity and calibre of students and inspiring them to study will be the aim of the scheme,' Chamegowda added.
When pointedly asked why teachers were deputed to other departments despite schools not having adequate number of teachers, S M Shantaraju, principal of CTE clarified that all deputed teachers are given clear instructions to report to their mother institutions. About 99 percent of the deputed teachers are instructed and despite this if any such case is reported to the department, it will take stern measures to remedy the situation, he assured.
Philomena Lobo, DDPI (development) and other officials of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan were present at the press conference.
