Mangalore: Youth Relive Amcho Yuvak’s Journey at Yuva Spandan

Mangalore, Apr 5: ‘Yuva Spandan,’ organized by Amcho Yuvak Konkani monthly to commemorate its silver jubilee as monthly, was held at Jeppu Youth Centre on Saturday, April 5.

Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza, of Mangalore inaugurated the programme and said that, Amcho Yuvak monthly has undergone through difficult times in the last few years. But it has given service by educating the community to a larger extent, he opined.

Fr Anil D’Souza, director of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Naveen Noronha, president of ICYM Mangalore, Prakash Lobo, editor of ‘Amcho Yuvak,’ Avina Mendonca, associate editor of Amcho Yuvak and Sr Milagren Horta, lady animator of ICYM were present on this occasion.

Later a symposium was held in which well-known Konkani writer Victor Mathias dealt with ‘Konkani Literature and Journalism’ and Wilfred Lobo Padil, former editor of Amcho Yuvak spoke on ‘Amcho Yuvak Monthly - Past, Present and Future.’ Fr Francis Rodrigues, editor of ‘Raknno’ Konkani weekly was the moderator for the symposium.

Victor Mathias, during speech, stressed the need of reading for young writers. Meanwhile, he said that, a journo should not only be alive but should also be active.
 
Wilfred Lobo stressed the need of more freedom and more time for the editors who take up the responsibility of ‘Amcho Yuvak.’

Well-known Konkani writers and former editors of ‘Amcho Yuvak’ and youth leaders participated in this symposium.
