Dubai: Ferarites Celebrate First Anniversary in Style

Dubai, Apr 11: Ferarites, the forum of parishioners belonging to Ferar Church back in Mangalore and spread across UAE, celebrated their first anniversary here at the Ratsky Club of Ramada Continental Hotel, Deira, Dubai on April 11.
Joseph Mathias, Director, Merit Freight Systems Co. LLC, Dubai was honored for his yeomen service to the Konkani community during the occasion. He was given a urmal (kind of a turban), shawl, memento and citation. The recognition has come in his way for encouraging and promoting Konkani language and religious activities in the gulf, especially in Dubai and back home, through financial support. The citation makes a special mention of his humble nature in supporting Konkani talents and his invaluable support to individuals and Konkani organizations.
Vincent Pereira, president of Ferarites, Leo Rodrigues, managing director, Al Mazrouie & Clevy Automobiles and chief guest of the function, Lancy Madtha, managing director, Integrated Freight & Logistics LLC, James Mendonca, president, Mangalore Konkans were present on the dais.
The day started with a prayer by Norbert Sequiera, which was followed by the welcome speech by Roshan Pereira. Immediately after that the cake was cut by the core committee members, to express the happiness upon the completion of one year of dedicated service to the community.
While general secretary Leslie Pinto read the annual report, Vincent Pereira, thanked all the Ferarites for coming together and making the day a memorable one. Chief guest Leo Rodrigues applauded the efforts of Ferarites for their unity and appreciated their service to the community back at home. A Ferarite by birth, Joseph Mathias thanked Ferarites for honouring him.
Shylan Beat Group entertained the audience with their scintillating music and Konkani, Tulu as well as English numbers. Godwin Castelino and friends were at their best in performing skits which brought laughter among the audience. Dances by Ocean Kids were joy to the minds and souls present.
Ferarites honored Roshan DSouza for his support to Ferar parish. His sister accepted the honour in his absence. Rajesh Sequeira, Coordinator, Karnataka NRI forum was also honoured for making the dream of Mangalore International Airport a reality.
Dony Correa compered the programme. Leslie Fernandes, treasurer proposed vote of thanks.
There were raffles, spot games, lucky draws, lotto as part of the celebrations and many walked away with loads of prizes.
