Kasargod: Communal Violence Claims Four Lives in Five Days - City Turns into Police Fortress

Kasargod, Apr 18: In yet another ghastly murder in city, a person was brutally hacked to death at Adkatabail here on Friday April 18 afternoon. It is the fourth murder in five days in the city.  Following these incidents of violence security has been beefed up and city has virtually turned into police fortress.

The murdered has been identified as C M Mohammad Kunhi Haji (54), son of Churi Abdulla and Ayesha.  He was the president of Adakatabail Bilal Mosque.  On Friday afternoon he was on his way to the mosque when he was stabbed by miscreants around 12 pm.  He was seriously injured in the attack and breathed his last on the spot.  His body has been kept in the taluk hospital here.

He is survived by wife Zaibunnisa, four sons and a daughter. While his eldest son Shaban Ali is working in Dubai, his second son Shihad is working in City Gold Jewellers, one of the premier jewel houses in the city. His last two sons Shakir and Naeemuddin are studying.  His only daughter Firosia is married.

 

The entire district is observing bundh following spate of murders. Police security has been tightened. Meanwhile the body of local BMA leader and advocate Suhas who has murdered on Thursday evening was brought to the city from Mangalore accompanied by heavy security.  Police have deployed additional forces on every major point and as of now only police are seen in and around the city.  Civilians are virtually confined to their houses, while schools and colleges have been declared holiday.
