Bantwal, Apr 24: Heavy winds coupled with thundershowers had devastating effect on property in the taluk on Wednesday April 23 night. Whirlwind that lashed across the taluk caused extensive damage to property in several places.

An areca nut plantation was floored near Loretto resulting in heavy damage.  Along with this, a poultry farm's tiled roof caved in at Loretto  killing more than 100 chickens.  This has resulted in loss of several thousands to the owner.
