Mangalore, Apr 30: The arrest of kidnappers of Sarang Mohammed Naeem in Afghanistan has not yet been confirmed which has left his family in a state of confusion.

Naeem's mother

Naeem, an engineer hailing from the city was kidnapped in the Herat province of Afghanistan a week ago.

Naeem's family said that they have not recieved any official information about the arrest of the kidnappers. However, they did recieve a call for ransom from the kidnappers who used Naeem's mobile number for the purpose. They threatened to hand Naeem over to the Taliban if the money is not paid on time.

Naeem's family informed the district administration about the call. The administration informed the state government which in turn alerted the authority concerned to tap the phone call and find out its origin. It is suspected that by tapping the phone call the kidnappers have been located and arrested, though the news is not yet confirmed.

Going by the call recieved by Naeem's family, it is surmised that Naeem has been abducted not by the Taliban but some local goon who did it for money.
