Mangalore: 'Old Man' Entrances Audience at Neermarga ICYM's Silver Jubilee

Mangalore, May 2: The valedictory of silver jubilee of Neermarga ICYM was held at St Joseph the Worker Church Ground, Neermarga near here on Thursday May 1 evening. It was also the Ruby Jubilee anniversary day for Neermarga Church.
The evening programme began with welcome address before ICYM secretary Rickson Lobo presented the report. The valedictory was symbolically inaugurated by letting off a dove in the open skies by Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza of Mangalore.
Speaking the occasion, Bishop called on the ICYM members to remain true to their motto of "Leadership through Service." "What we require from the youth is commitment in whatever they do. Whatever work you undertake, dedicate yourselves entirely to that. The society needs not just the youth but committed youth," he advised the youth. He also felicitated the directors and animators of ICYM on the occasion.
Noted Konkani poet Melvyn Rodrigues who was the chief guest on the occasion and Fr Anil D'Souza, director of Mangalore ICYM who was the guest of honour felicitated the presidents and secretaries who had served Neermarga ICYM in the past 25 years. Neermarga ICYM members who have served ICYM at the deanery and central committee level too were felicitated on the occasion by Naveen Norornha.
Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza of Mangalore also released the souvenir. Parish priest Fr Charles Menezes, former director Fr Valerian Frank, Fr Benedict Rego who initiated ICYM in Neermarga were also present on the occasion. Melvyn Rodrigues and Fr Anil also addressed the gathering.
'Comedy King' Francis Cascia's popular Konkani drama 'Mhataro Chorbela' was staged on the occasion as part of cultural programme.
Earlier the solemn Eucharistic celebration was offered in the morning by Fr Dominic Vas, former provincial of Karnataka-Goa Province of Carmelites. He also inaugurated the silver jubilee stage built by ICYM on the occasion.
