Dubai, May 4: The Indian Consulate in Dubai said it will be recalling immediately all passports bearing the serial numbers Z-000001 to Z-045925. No explanation was given for the recall, but it is believed that a duplication of these passport numbers has led to the situation.
The passports in question were issued between February and September last year. The consulate said it will issue new passports in place of the old ones and asked people to return their old passports and to submit fresh applications to obtain new ones. “We are doing it on the instructions of the Government of India. Passports bearing the above numbers are being recalled everywhere in India and abroad,” an official from the consulate said.
People can contact the consulate via the e-mail address zseries@cgidxb.ae or call 050 429 3269 to speak to an official.
