Mangalore: Belgaum Bishop  Inaugurates Mangalore Diocesan Catholic Lawyers’ Guild

Mangalore, May 18: Rt Rev Dr Peter Machado, Bishop of Belgaum Diocese, inaugurated the Diocesan Catholic Lawyers Guild (DCLG)  of  the Mangalore diocese at  St Joseph’s Seminary on Sunday, May 18. Speaking on the occasion , the Bishop said , “ Catholic lawyers should uphold the truth, live by truth and die by truth.  A lawyer’s profession is more than a profession which can discover the covered truth.”  he said.
















Kerala High Court judge Justice Anthony Dominic was the chief guest of the occasion. He said that lawyers play major role in preserving the rights of citizens. District judge J M D'Cunha and Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, vicar general of Mangalore Diocese were  also present on the dais.

Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, bishop of Mangalore presided over the function. DCLG president M P Noronha welcomed the gathering. Secretary Gracy D'Silva presented the report. Melita Pinto compered the programme.

    Interesting development indeed. Would like to receive contact details of the office bearers of the Guild, to liaison with them for similar group being started in mumbai.

    Now that Catholic Lawyers Guild is formed in the Diocese, the people who need the guidance and strength to fight for justice can approach the Guild. It is my humble request to the Guild members that they may extend their helping hand in the deserving cases without insisting for high payments.Long live justice, Long live DCLG.

    If the weaker section of our community can realise that the Lawyer's Guild is there to stand by them and guide them in any legitimate need...I am sure the Lawyer's Guild could turn out to be a genuine blessing for our community. The Guild members could also be an inspiration to the younger generation to seriously consider taking up this challenging career where they will be able to fight for truth and justice. I look forward some of the eminent legal personalities of the community (like Retd.Justice Michael Saldanha, Mr.Clarence Pais etc.) also to offer their guidance to the Guild.
