Bahrain: Kannada Sangha's 'Nee Kunidaga' Delights Audience

Bahrain, May 21: Kannada Sangha, Bahrain, organized a dance programme titled 'Nee Kunidaga'  (translated as “When You Dance”) for all its members and families on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at its cultural hall hosted by the Sharavathi team.

Nearly 50 children, young and elderly, danced to the tune of Kannada and Hindi filmy songs organized by the Club’s executive committee.     There were 5 age categories for the contest and the children’s contests as usual, was the most difficult to judge.    Nearly 250 members and their families enjoyed the programme showcasing various dance skills to the continuous applause of the audience.  

This opportunity provided a platform for all dancers to showcase their dance talents.    The three judges, who had a tough time selecting the best of the dancers, were Shanthi Raja, Monalisa Guha and Jacob P J.

The general secretary of the Club welcomed the gathering and acting president Ramesh Manjeshwar addressed the audience. 

A prize distribution ceremony was held after the competition when Club’s executive members gave away the prizes.    The Vote of Secretary Doomanna Rai proposed vote of thanks.

The winners of the “Nee Kunidaga” Dance contest are:

Age Group 3 to 5 years: Sameeksha Shetty, Winner;   Diya Girish, Runner-up

Age Group 5 to 8 years: Tanya Girish, Winner;    Safia Gani, 1st Runner-up;  Deepta S. Shetty, 2nd Runner-up; Consolation prize: Kaushika B.K.

Age Group 8 to 12 years: Sameeksha Shetty, Winner; Salma Simin, 1st Runner-up;  Smriti Shetty, 2nd Runner-up;  Consolation prize: Vaishnavi Naik and Aasha Satish

Age Group 12 to 18 years:  Sampath Jathanna, Winner;   Sunain K.B., 1st Runner-up; Shradda Raghupati; Consolation prize: Prajwita Shetty

Adults above 18 years:  Arun Shetty, Winner

Duet 5 to 10 years:  Salma Simin & Sameeksha, Winners

Duet 10 to 18 years: Takshak Pai & Shradda Raghupati, Winners.
