Bangalore Airport Opening Delayed Again

Sify

Bangalore, May 22: It came as a shock to the Bengluru international airport authorities.

The Civil Aviation Ministry has issued a notification delaying the inauguration of the airport by 24 hours.

The airport was all set to start operations on Friday but will now be open to public from Saturday onwards.

This is the third time that operations from BIAL have been delayed.

Earlier, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel had announced that the new airport at Bangalore will become operational by the end of May.

BIAL had earlier planned to start operations March 30, but the launch was postponed till May 11 and now stands further delayed.

According to its agreement with the government, all commercial aviation activities at the existing airport are to end once the new airport is functional.

However, Airports Authority of India (AAI) workers have opposed that clause.
