Udupi: Two Young Girls Drown in Ill Fated Tragedy

Udupi, May 23: In a tragic incident, two young girls have died by drowning in a creek, near here on Friday May 23 afternoon.

The deceased are identified as Preeti (10), daughter of Prakash Poojary and Sangeeta couple, resident of Kotalakatte and Varshita (8), daughter of Vasant and Suguna couple, resident of Madunja, in Innanje village.

Preeti and Sangeeta were the relatives who were on their way to fetch vegetables from the household of another relative at Innanje. They had to walk on a precarious path besides the creek when they slipped and fell in the water and drowned.  

Preeti was studying in Class V and Varshita in Class III at Dandateerta Higher Primary School. 

Former minister Vasant V Salian, Kaup Block BJP president Ravindra Shetty, Dandateertha Higher Primary School correspondent Dr Prabhakar Shetty and others paid visit to the bereaved family and consoled them.
