Margao: Thieves Decamp with Cash, Valuables worth 5.5 Lac at Arlem

Margao, Jun 9: In a daring daylight theft on Sunday June 8 evening from in a bungalow at Arlem near here, robbers succeeded to decamp with gold and silver worth Rs 5 lac along with Rs 50,000 cash . 

Recently spate of robberies have taken in place in Margao and its outskirts, mainly by breaking the latch of doors and bending shutters of shops with the help of iron rods. Police have suspected that even in the present case, thieves have adopted similar method to gain entry into the bungalow this case with same method, as main latch of rear and front door of this bungalow was broken to pieces. Thus robbers sneaked into the house.

According to police theft took place in bungalow owned to senior citizen of this vicinity Venkatesh Kamat. He along with his wife Padma Kamat was had gone for evening walk. Cashing on this opportunity thieves managed to steal valuables and cash.

When contacted South Goa SP Shekhar Prabhudesai said that investigation is on and they will try their best to nab the culprits at the earliest.

Sniffer dogs were pressed in service later in the evening.

Maina-Curtorim Police are investigating this case.

    Goa Police must be more vigilant as the onset of mansoon.They should deploy more force and patrol regularly so that robber are keep at bay or nabbed.
