Charkop police recover 381 stolen mobile phones across states

Mumbai, Aug 20: Charkop Police have recovered 381 stolen and snatched mobile phones from different parts of the country and returned them to their rightful owners as part of a special recovery drive using technical investigation.

The operation, conducted from January 1 to August 19, 2026, traced phones reported stolen or snatched in Mumbai and recovered them from various states.

Since 2020, Charkop Police Station has registered 2,560 complaints related to mobile phone theft and snatching and recovered 925 devices. In 2026, police received 670 such complaints and recovered 319 phones through technical investigation.

The latest recovery included 60 Samsung, 56 Vivo, 54 Redmi, 46 Oppo, 45 OnePlus, 38 Motorola, 29 Poco, 20 Nothing and 16 Apple iPhones. Police also recovered 10 Teco, five Tecno and two Google phones.

The drive was conducted under the guidance of DCP North Division-2 Sandeep Ghuge, ACP Maheshkumar Thakur and Charkop Police Station Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Balwant Rao, along with other police personnel.

Police said the operation highlighted the effectiveness of technical investigation in tracing stolen and snatched mobile phones, including those taken outside Mumbai and Maharashtra.
