Kasargod: Robbery case registered against Telangana police

Kasargod, Oct 25: A complaint was filed at Vidyanagar police station here, alleging that some personnel from the police department in Telangana state had forcibly taken away a youth, claiming him to be an accused in a case, after which he was threatened by flashing a pistol at him. Allegedly, the policemen of Telangana snatched away cash and a wristwatch from the complainant. The police here have since registered a robbery case against six policemen of Telangana including two police sub-inspectors.

The police registered the case after the complainant, Abdul Rahman (45) from Kolatingala, Manjathadka, Shiribagilu, approached the court with a private complaint. The complainant has named the robbers as sub-inspector of Monipet police station in Rangareddy district, Telangana, sub-inspector of Nawabpet police station there, and four police constables.

Rahman says that two police sub-inspectors and four other police personnel, who claimed to be belonging to the police department of Telangana, visited Vidyanagar and informed him that he was an accused in a case in Telangana state. "They forcibly carried me in a Chevrolet Tavera car, threatened me by showing a pistol and snatched away a Rado wristwatch I was wearing, a cellphone, and Rs 14,000 in cash from my possession. Thereafter, I was led to Monipet police station where I was tortured," he had said in a complaint he had filed at the judicial magistrate court (first class) here. After the court issued the order, the police registered a case against two police sub-inspectors and four constables of Telangana police.
