Doha, Nov 27: Embassy of India, Qatar in association with Indian Cultural Centre on November 24 organized a splendid 15 member Bollywood music and Dance event at DPS-MIS School. The team was led by Madhumitha Biswas Acharrya and sponsored by Indian Council of Cultural Relations of Govt of India.
Ambassador of India to Qatar P Kumaran, patron of ICC was the chief guest. Ramesh Prasad Koirala, ambassador of Nepal to Qatar was the guest of honor.
Performances included most of the popular hits from Bollywood movie songs and highlight of the event was a dance performance for a Malayalam song 'Jimmiki Kammal' which was well received by the audience. The groupe performed dance and songs for approximately 75 minutes continuously.
Usha Ravishankar welcomed the gathering. The event was inaugurated by the traditional lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, guest of honor, Hassan Chougle director DPS-MIS, Milan Arun, president ICC and Madhumitha Acharrya.
The ambassador in his address emphasised the role of Bollywood in spreading Hindi language and Indian culture to countries outside the Indian subcontinent including Middle East, east Europe and south east Asia.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Raja Vijayan joint secretary ICC.
