Mangalore, Jul 23: We have come across milkmen and women getting milk to our doorsteps early in the morning. But have we ever come across any milk van directly barging into our house to deliver hundreds of litres of milk crossing all the barriers? Having seen a milk van go off the road, roll down the gorge before landing on a house, it now seems that days are not far when milk vans will directly land in our verandah with thundering sound to wake us up from the early morning slumber. Can this be called a new way of delivering milk early in the morning or example of door-to-door delivery of milk?
A milk delivery truck hired for transporting KMF Nandini milk went off the road, rolled down the gorge before leaning against the walls of a house at Gurpur near here on Wednesday July 23 morning. Luckily, no one was injured even though the rear side of the vehicle was lifted off the ground into the air in the accident. The driver and cleaner of the van were seen trying to regroup and put milk cans in order despite the mishap.
The truck, bearing registration number KA 19 AC 4041, coming back to the city from Ganjimath rammed into the walls of a house located some distance away from the road. The driver lost control over the vehicle as it experienced a brake failure upon approaching Gurpur and while negotiating a steep road. The driver was trying to avoid an oncoming tipper when the vehicle veered away from the road and came to a halt after ramming into a house.
The inmates of the house, who were totally awe-struck and taken by surprise by the advent of this early morning guest, managed to overcome their anxious moments a little while later and helped the driver and cleaner of the van to call the police, put things in order.
