Mysuru: Sadananda Gowda mistakenly tongue-lashes Yeddyurappa over farmer suicides

Mysuru, Jan 24: In an embarassing mistake, former chief minister of Karnataka and union minister for statistics and programme implementation, D V Sadananda Gowda, gave a thorough tongue-lashing to former chief minister and BJP state president, B S Yeddyurappa, on Tuesday January 23 in the presence of the latter.

"During the period Yeddyurappa government, 3,500 farmers committed suicide in the state. Do we need a government that gives such a bounty to its people," he questioned, speaking spiritedly to the gathering.

The incident happened during the BJP Parivartana Yatra held at Suttur here. The fact that Yeddyurappa was sitting right there when Gowda made this statement made the matters worse.

As soon as Gowda uttered these words, some among the audience shouted at him. Gowda immediately realized that he had committed a blunder, and did his best to make corrections by clarifying that he was speaking about Siddaramaiah-led government.

"Chief minister, Siddaramaiah's son, Dr Yathindra, is taking a plunge into active politics. Siddaramiaah is not even sparing his own son. He has run away from his constituency because of the fear of ignoble defeat in this constituency," he observed. Addressing Dr Yathindra, he advised him to think twice before biting the dust at the first attempt itself. He felt that the chief minister's son might take retirement from politics after getting defeated in the first ever election he will be facing.
