Muscat: Mangalorean Austin J Noronha Dies in Tragic Road Accident

Muscat, Jul 30: Austin John Noronha, 54 years, of St. Lawrence Parish, Attur, Karkala, died in a tragic road accident near Mahout in the Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday, 29th July 2008 at 1.30 pm.

Austin an employee of Gulf of Oman Fishing International LLC, an Oman based company, was traveling to Duqm to have an inspection of the company project site in a Toyota Prado along with two officials of company’s Chinese principals.  Austin was traveling on the rear seat and vehicle was driven by one of the Chinese officials. When they reached Mahout, before Duqm Project, the driver lost the control and vehicle overturned few times. Austin was thrown out of the vehicle and died on the spot. As per the latest news, one of the Chinese officials is serious.

Austin’s wife Irene Noronha is right now in India and his son Derrick Savio Noronha  is currently working in Oman. 

Austin’s parents are Catherine Noronha and the later Paul Noronha of St. Lawrence Church – Attur, Karkala. 

A prayer service and Holy mass will be offered for the soul of the deceased on Wednesday, 30th July 2008 at 7.15 pm at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi.


Funeral cortege will leave Noronha House, Doopadakatte to St Lawrence Church, Attur, Karkala at 4.00 pm on Friday August 1.

    Deeply shocked to hear the news of the tragic & untimely demise of our beloved Austin whom we know closely for the past two decades. Austin was a wonderful personality and he was known for his pleasing & gentle nature.
