Bantwal, Jul 31: The railway authorities have been successful in repairing the railway tracks which were damaged at Goltamajal near Kalladka on Thursday July 31.
The train movement between Bangalore and Mangalore was affected owing to the derailment of a goods train at Goltamajal on Wednesday, July 30. The train arriving from Bangalore to Mangalore on Wednesday morning, had to cut short its trip at Puttur itself and passengers had to travel by buses or other means to reach Mangalore. The railway officials said they have made arrangements for carrying passengers bound for Bangalore, by buses to Puttur railway station from where the Bangalore-bound train will commence its journey. Other trains moving on this line have been cancelled.
The authorities repaired the railway track within a day after the goods train derailed. More than a hundred labourers worked here continuously to clear the train wagons that had fallen on the tracks and to repair the tracks. Meanwhile, they conducted the test drive successfully on this stretch of the tracks.
Sources have informed, that the passenger train between Mangalore-Bangalore service will be resumed on Friday August 1.
