Bengaluru, Feb 3: In a heart-wrenching incident reported from Whitefield in the city, a mother and her four-year-old son were burnt alive inside the car as the car suddenly caught fire.
Neha Verma (30), a native of Indore in Madhya Pradesh and her son Param (4), residents of 'Sumadhura Anandam' apartments, situated at the Borewell road of Nelluruhalli, are the unfortunate victims of this tragedy.
The incident took place in the basement parking area of the apartment on the afternoon of Friday, February 2.
Neha, wife of Rajesh Kumar, a native of Belagavi, was parking her Maruti Ritz car in the basement, when it suddenly caught fire and quickly gained intensity.
The police said that the duo left their home at around 12.30 pm, and later, at around 3.25 pm, the security guards found the car burning and rushed to the spot. "They were unable to douse it and informed the fire and emergency services department. Police were also informed and they rushed to the scene. A fire tender reached the spot and doused the fire by 4 pm. The mother and son were found charred to death," police said.
It is suspected that short circuit in the engine could have been the cause of the fire.
