Bahrain: Mogaveers' Annual Drawing Competition

Manama, Aug 2: The Mogaveers Bahrain, organized their annual Drawing Competition for Karnataka State children of all Associations on Friday, Aug 1, 2008, at the Papillon Hotel Cultural Hall. About 50 children of all age groups gathered at 9.00 am for the Contest.
The program began with registration of contestants and breakfast for all children and the parents.
Girish Iddya, President of Mogaveers Bahrain, welcomed the children and addressed the gathering. Nagaraj Rao briefed the children on the rules of the Drawing competition. The children were grouped in four age categories for the two hour competition that commenced sharply at 10.30 am. The children were given their own choice, to draw anything they wished. A good majority of the children who participated were girls. It was a wonderful sight to watch the children bring out their creative drawing talent and work their way to a beautiful presentation in colours of all sorts. Some preferred to draw and shade only in pencil – quite artistic. Still some had a them, like Mother Nature, Scenery, Bahrain’s World Trade Centre, Mountains, Cartoon characters, and so on.
The competition concluded at 12.15 pm and the Judges for the Competition were Hamish McIntyre, Nagaraj Rao and D. Ramesh.
The Judges appreciated the creative talents of the youngsters and stated that the choice of picking a winner was tough. All the participating children were given ice cream, chocolates and took home some complimentary gifts donated by the Sponsors.
Among others, Anand Lobo of Mangalorean Cultural Association and Lobo Int’l fame, addressed the children and audience in his characteristic style commending the Moghaveers Bahrain for encouraging children’s talents and the efforts to motivate them and assured them of his continuous support. Remembrance mementoes were given to the Judges who selected the winners. Nagaraj Rao spoke on behalf of the Judges appreciating the children’s interest in the competition.
The main Clubs who deputed children for the competition were Bunts Bahrain (BB), Karavali Konkans Association (KKA) and Kannada Sangha (KS) apart from Mogaveers Bahrain (MB). It was a colouring fun day out for the children, encouraged and watched by their parents.

All the winning children were given attractive trophies. The main Sponsors for the event were Mr. Surendra Shetty and family, Anand Lobo of M/s. Lobo International and Naveen Mendon of Nestle Trading. They were all honored with plaques on the dais. The program was also capably supported by Arun Kumar of Jashanmal, Padmanaba Kanchan, Ronald D. F. D’Souza and Narayan of Worldecor.
