Beltangady, Aug 6: Msgr Ambrose Madtha who was recently appointed Apostolic Nuncio of Ivory Coast, was felicitated at Bishop’s cathedral, in Beltangady on Wednesday August 6 morning. Beltangady is Msgr Ambrose's hometown and he did his early schooling here.

Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore presided over the felicitation programme. Bishop Lawrence Mukkuyee of Beltangady, in his felicitation address, said that Msgr Madtha had brought honour to Mangalore diocese, through his recent international appointment. It is significant that the diocese has produced 30 Bishops who are serving all across the country, he added.

Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala said that the appointment of Msgr Madtha would enable him to serve the Lord with humility and perseverance. Bishop D’Souza also concurred with the views of the other speakers.

MLA Vasant Bangera and Bishop Antonyswamy of Chikmagalur were the chief guests. Sr Anita D’Souza, and Fr Roshan Crasta, compered the programme. Around 1,500 people were present on the occasion. Parish children presented cultural programmes.

It is a proud moment, specially for me, a Belthangady parishioner. The felicitation programme was really classic and I witnessed people's love for their own person who has been appointed as the Pope's Amabassador. All speakers spoke wisely with wonderful messages and thoughts. My congratulations to all those who have contributed in arranging such a beautiful event. I was really happy when Arch Bishop Rev. Dr. Ambrose Madtha spoke his entire speech in Kannada, even after staying 30 years in different countries. Surely, he is a proud Son of Belthangady. He will be the real Ambassador of India and the Mangalorean community. Congratulations & best wishes to him.
