Panaji, Aug 25: India will be the next international destination for chartered accountants, feel the experts.

Eyeing on the global chartered accountancy boom, the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India (ICAI) has decided to spread its wings globally. "We secured our presence recently in New York, which was our 20th chapter and will  register our presence in Sigapore by next year," ICAI president Ved Jain told reporters here.

Talking to the reporters on the sidelines of the national mega conference organised by the central council of ICAI, Jain said that the institute has adapted itself to the current-day requirements to push its professionals in the international market more vigorously. "Of our 1.5 lakh members, 10,000 are abroad and we are spreading our wings further," he said.

Indian accountants are in a better position to grab the opportunity of the huge potential, Jain added. The institute is also working out international courses, which are much in demand especially in the middle east and the African countries, where a consideration chunk of the population is made up of people of Indian origine. "We are in talks with seven more countries and we hope to break ice with them soon," Jain added.

The chartered accountancy experts feel, that the next decade would belong to their profession, after information technology hogged the limelight in the previous one.

"The world will travel to India for accountancy and auditing. India will be the chosen destination for accountancy in service sector," the ICAI president commented. He also stated, that India's all accountancy standards would be turned international by the year 2011, so that the companies world over, will look at outsourcing jobs to India.

The ICAI is in the final stages of its project to have residential courses for the chartered accountants, to enable them to hone their skills in personality development, management, communication and delivery mechanism.

"We will have four institutes in different zones and talks in this regard with various state governments are in final stages," he revealed.
