Panaji: Bill Seeking Formation of GHSDC Tabled in Assembly

Panaji, Aug 26: The Bill seeking formation of a Goa health services development corporation (GHSDC) was tabled in the state legislative assembly on Tuesday August 26.

The state legislative assembly session which began on August 18 will culminate on August 29.

Health minister Vishwajeet Rane introduced in the legislative assembly The Goa Health Services Development Bill, 2008, providing for establishment of a Goa Health Services Development Corporation to cater the needs of rapid growth and development of health services in the State.

The Bill also provides for undertaking various health oriented schemes on behalf of the government like the Universal Mediclaim Scheme and to manage, development of health estates, health institutions, services, medical tourism at places selected by the government from time to time.

It further provides for undertaking works either jointly or an agency basis with other corporate bodies or institutions or with government and all matter connected therewith.

The proposed Corporation will comprise 12 board of directors including health minister as its chairman.
