Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (RD/CN)
Mangalore, Aug 27: The office-bearers of various automobile owners' associations in the city alleged that petrol pumps all over Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts have been dispensing premium diesel instead of regular diesel, over the past two weeks. They said that some of the petrol pumps have also stopped dispensing diesel since the last two days and this is causing inconvenience to owners and drivers of motor vehicles.
Monappa Bhandary, president, DK district tourist taxi and maxi-cab owners and drivers association, on Wednesday, August 26, said that if the current situation prevails, traffic in undivided DK district would come to a standstill which will have an adverse impact on the prices of essential commodities.
A written complaint has been lodged with the deputy commissioner (DC) in this regard, and his reaction is awaited. If filling stations do not stop this discriminatory act, the associations have warned that they will be left with no option but to picket those petrol pumps who indulge in such practices. The DK district bus owners' association, Canara bus owners' association, inter-state bus owners' association, DK district tourist taxi and maxi-cab owners' and drivers association, DK district truck owners' association, and DK tanker owners' association, have all issued a joint statement to this effect.
The issue has been brought to the notice of chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, food and civil supplies minister and district-in-charge minister, said Bhandary.
