Panaji, Aug 28:
The state government will take a delegation to the centre demanding more participation in the organization of international film festival of India (IFFI).

The delegation headed by state chief minister Digamber Kamat, who heads entertainment society of Goa, an agency formed to hold IFFI in Goa, will soon visit the national capital.

"We will put across our view points to the information and broadcasting ministry seeking more participation in the festival organization," Goa chief secretary J P Singh said.

The state government was perturbed over directorate of film festival's (DFF) after latter rejected former's draft memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MOU had sought more powers for the state government-run ESG.

Goa contends that since it bears majority of financial burden, it should have more rights over the festival. The state is also contemplating the possibility of taking over the festival.

The IFFI was shifted to Goa in 2004 during Manohar Parrikar-led government's tenure from Delhi.
