Kuwait: Konkani Activists Honoured on ‘Konkani Day’

Kuwait, Aug 30: As a mark of recognition of Konkani’s inclusion into the 8th schedule in the constitution of Indian National language, Konkani Kullvar, a Konkani Writers' Forum in Kuwait celebrated the 'Konkani Day’ on Friday August 29 from 6.15 pm onwards at the Indian Community Girls School, Salmiya.
Program commenced with a greeting and a welcome song by the Kullvaar members led by Ivan. Lancy Pinto Nayak delivered the welcomed speech followed by introduction of the Konkani Divas and guest by Shaan Bondel.
Kullvar Rangmanchi was officially inaugurated on this occasion by honored couples John- ida and Francis- jessy.
Kullvar Rangmanchi is formed to support all kinds of Konkani Artists in Kuwait and to unite them together under one roof.
The sponsors for the event were honored with flower bouquets. Faustine Pinto Was honored for the work he has done for Konkany by Msgr. Alex D’Souza. As a special event two couples Francis-Jacintha D’Souza and John-Ida D’Silva were honored by Fr. Melvin D’Cunha and Fr. Theo Fernandes for their contribution for Konkani.
Lawrence Pinto the senior Konkani activist in Kuwait was also honored on this occasion by the chief guest Marian L. D’Souza. The chief guest of the program Marian L. D’Souza, Lawrence Pinto, Francis D’souza, Ida D’silva, Fr. Melvin D’Cunha and Fr. Theo Fernandes delivered their speech and wished all the members of Kullvar. Spot prizes were called out in between.
During the entertainment part of the program Various songs were sung by Vinay Lewis, Laveena Pais, Glinda D`souza, Rinet D`silva, Ivan Almeida, Vrinda Lewis & Nancy Pinto. Scintillating Dances were performed by Samanta Pinto, Suzie Pinto, Glinda D`souza, Jayson D`souza, Silvia D`souza, Rinet D`silva who danced to the tune of Bhath Kanduya while the Salmiya Group comprising of Diona Carnelio, Vinita D`souza, Melita Mathais, Dylon Carnelio, Valencio Veigas, Renwick Lewis danced to the mixture of 3 songs. The dances were choreographed by Nancy Pinto and Rovita D`souza. In between the songs and dances hilarious jokes were enacted by Prashanth, Joseph, Ronald, Agnel and Kevin which were thoroughly enjoyed by all. The music was provided by PEARL BEAT artists Austin, vinay, Sunith, Vincent and Anil.
The main attraction of the day was the comedy drama “Dantak Daant, Dolleak Dolo” written by Shaan Bondel and Directed by Lancy Pinto Nayak and acted by Shaan Bondel and Ida D`silva. The program came to an end with the vote of thanks, Hampers draw, prize distribution and The drama. The Program was well compered by Shaan Bondel and Roshan D’silva. The program was attended by house full crowd which is a proof of love for Konkani in Kuwait.
