He was granted bail based on a personal bond of Rs 1 lac and two sureties.
Padmapriya went missing from her house near Udupi on June 10. Later she was found dead mysteriously in a rented flat in New Delhi on June 15. Eversince, the sources as well as the police have maintained that she ended her life owing to family disputes.
Atul Rao, the childhood friend of Raghupati Bhat has been held responsible for Padmapriya's death as he had helped Padmapriya to leave her house, elope to Delhi and rent a flat there.
Though Atul Rao was taken into the custody while Padmapriya was in Delhi, he was officially arrested on June 23 based on a complaint filed by MLA Raghupati Bhat. Eversince it has been a hide-n-seek game as he has constantly been hitting headlines. During his police custody, he took ill and was admitted to hospital. But owing to some unknown reasons he was forced to change hospitals at various times. Despite his constant efforts to get bail, he was denied bail. Even the police had failed to produce him in the court under the pretext that he was ill.
Now after serving almost two months behind the bar, he has been granted conditional bail.
