Bengaluru: KPCC chief Dr Parameshwar expresses reservations about EVMs

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 25: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president and deputy chief minister, Dr G Parameshwar, said that even before the election was held, a letter had been written to the election commission on behalf of his party, expressing doubts about the functioning of electronic voting machines (EVM).

"Our strong demand is that ballot papers should be used for Lok Sabha election instead of EVMs. We have noticed that in several constituencies where Congress candidates were expected to get 80 percent of votes polled, BJP candidates have come out victorious. Therefore, our needle of suspicion is on EVMs," he explained.

He was addressing a press conference at the KPCC office on Queens Road here on Thursday May 24. "We keep hearing the comments that the alliance between Congress and JD(S) will not last long. But I can assure you that our government will complete full term of five years. No one needs to have any doubt on this issue," he asserted. Parameshwar said that his government has been able to reign in the autocratic functioning style of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. "Our main aim is to implement programmes which will benefit all classes of people including poor people, middle class, farmers, workers class etc.

Parameshwar said that common minimum programme would be drafted by keeping together the election manifestos of both the parties and then drawing up programmes on priority basis for fulfilling the aspirations of the people. He said that a coordination committee would be formed by bringing together leaders of both the parties after winning the trust vote. The committee will discuss on the policies and programmes and come to a decision. Thereafter, the government will work as per the common minimum programme, he stated.

Parameshwar clarified that the party leaders have not asked him to step down from the post of KPCC president. He stated that a special committee would be formed to find out and address issues which caused Congress candidates to taste defeat in so many constituencies, so that necessary steps could be taken to address these issues.

KPCC chief Dr Parameshwar concerns are genuine if one analyse the vote percentage proposition to the seat secured.
The Congress got lesser seats than the BJP though its vote share was nearly two percentage points higher than that garnered by the saffron party in the bitterly fought Karnataka Assembly polls, according to election commission data.
On closer inspection, though, a different picture emerges. Almost 70 percent of Indians did not vote for the BJP. Commentators such as Max Fisher at Vox claim that the BJP “dramatically … swept the vote.” In fact, the BJP won about 31 percent of the vote, a new high for the party. Although this is the first national election in which the BJP has ever won more votes than any other party, less than a third of Indians voted for it.
When the Congress party then led by Indira Gandhi, daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru—won an outright Lok Sabha majority in 1967, its seat total was 283, just one more than the B.J.P.’s. But Indira and Congress needed 41% of the electorate to get there. And when Congress got a majority of 414 seats, in 1984, it did so with 49% of the vote.
From my school days I learned better the percentage of marks in each subject better the ranking. But for BJP "How to Win Big by Winning Small" is doubtable and raises many questions.

As far as EVM use in India Election commission of India is yet to answer the following questions.
    1. Why the ECI is not accepting offer of open hack challenge from the scientific community?
    2. In RTI reply, ECI disclosed discrepancies in EVM manufactured and supply. When was the last audit done on all the EVM produced? Did the lost/missing/stolen/damaged EVM's records are maintained?
    3. Every EVM in India is installed with 'Microchip' imported from Indian based company in USA. The company itself is facing lawsuit in US. How does Indian EVM secured in this regard?
    4. Under People's Representative Act, democracy should be transparent. Why ECI choose to count VVPAT in closed door?

Go for paper less society with EVM's ..... EVM jao ho.... Only illeterate people who use THUMB to sign prefer paper ballot.... more over those old politicians who ruled also prefer it... so that whole ballot paper could be snatched from booth thru gangsters and mafia... apply seal threatening the officers in charge at booth and go with winning smile.... Same thing is done in Bihar, UP, MP, Rajastan, West BENGAL, KERALA TAMILNADU, MAHARASHTRA, JAMMU & KASHMIR, PUNJAB and other new states. That is easy to manipulate and no case can be filed because they use GUNS to do this ...
If you are against EVM - Better go back to manual book keeping, voucher writing, same old passbook writing, Money transfer and many more.... dont use ONLINE facility to book tickets, Hotels, trains, cinema tickets.... go and hang up in que for hours.... like ration shop que... why use Machine at Ration shops ? remove it .... go for manual billing and see the fraud and bribe how it nourish again in our society.... If u have complaint.... report to SC at midnight and knowch the doors of CJI ....

Eversince the General elections in 2014, complaints have been recurring after every elecetion in the country. There is no smoke without a fire and so similar with the recurring complaints with the EVM's by almost all poiltical parties.

Unlike in the General elections where large scale complaints were reported across the country recent elections have shown that selective Hacking/Tampering of EVM's may have been resorted to to avoid suspicion.

The results of the elections in Dakshin Kanara has given doubts to such selective tampering/hacking as the 7 out of 8 candidates of BJP being victorius inspite of the sitting MLA'S doing wonders for their contituincies and with widespread discontentment against the central Govt.

Such selective hacking could also be to give credit to their Chief Campaigners who campaigned in these areas and build a Halo around them.

If the United States of America has reverted to Ballot Papers from EVM's being the Worlds Greatest Democracy, then the Worlds Largest Democracy should follow suit so that these lingering doubts about the hacking of the EVM's could be removed and a free and fair elections to reflect the True Will of the people can be achieved.

If congress win 7/8 seats what is your opinion on EVM's ? More over why we should follow USA of any other country for electoral process.... there they have only two parties... here CHOW CHOW Bath and every lane and street will have a party of their own - called REGIONAL parties... and these least elected member become CM/PM and is not this a mockery of democracy. Such things won't happen in any other countries except INDIA...

you have something in india called a court.
You guys ran to the court at 12 am midnight and the CJI against whom you had intiated impeachment motion listened to your pleas at 2 am in the morning.
why dont you go to the court now?
why dont you present your proof in the media otherwise?
You guys are becoming a joke every passing day.
This coalition is going to cost the Cong not the JDS, because the JDS got seats against Cong .
The cong supporters there will think "why should we vote for cong,if they are going to support the JDS anyway?"

    DEAR DCM

    Feku Modi won't ban EVM's.
If they ban EVM's next day central government will fall.
Now BJP MP's trust EVM's and they are with BJP.
Once EVM's are banned majority of the MP's will join congress.
Karnataka elections truly proved EVM's are misused. Karvali side 19 seats for BJP itself will prove that EVM's are misused. otherwise they wouldn't have got more than 4-5 seats

Bann EVM and save the Democracy!!!!!!!!
EVM = Every Vote For MODI

Poor don't vote for BJP, minority don't vote for BJP, good hindus don't vote for BJP, Farmers don't vote for BJP, only 15 to 20 % of the population that is only blind bhakts are voting BJP

So how come they get more votes and become largest party ??? the answer is only because of EVM.

Instead of blaming EVM's blame yourself and your arrogant move that hurt many Kannadigas and Lingayath, Shaivas.... Stupidity in turning river water from Yethina Hole, Murder of so many youths in costal areas, Land mafia, anti Hindu policy and hating their beliefs, funding of minority prayer halls from Hindu temple earnings.... Sand mafia,,,, and now... even after rejection of the party by public.... coming to power to rule with their enemy party.... Oh.... no stop to these... Now blame EVM .... why you use Online Banking., ATM etc for fund transfer., why you opt for payment of Local taxes thru computer systems, Ban those things too...
only option available now is either BALLOT for backward/forward/minority and caste based vote banks .... and EVM's for others ... Stupid people... with stupid mindset...

In 2019 there should be ballot paper voting and must liknk to adhar card to avoid duplicate voters ID card which were found during the Karnataka assembly election at various places.
