Mangalore: Court Releases 20 Catholics Arrested in Milagres Violence

Mangalore, Sep 24: The court on Wednesday September 24 released all 20 Catholics who were imprisoned in relation to the vandalism and violence at Milagres Church and Adoration Monastery, recently.
Bunder police had filed an FIR against them following which they were remanded to judicial custody till September 24. The Diocesan Catholic Lawyers’ Guild headed by M P Noronha and Ivan D’Souza, worked hard to have them released.
A total of 153 persons were arrested in relation to the violence that took place in churches in and around the city on September 14 and 15. Of these 98 were produced in court and 44 people belonging to St Sebastian church, Permannur, were released on September 18 and another 34 were released on September 17.
