The buta and daivas of tulu nadu are similar to the kami spirits of shinto religion. The Japanese hold on to the ancient customs and rituals of shinto religion inspite of being the most technologically advanced nation in the world. We need to have more cross cultural understanding with the east Asians especially Japanese, Korean and Chinese.

Quite impressing to know that Prof. Morijiri coming to Karnanatak to do deep research on Yakshagana and Bhootaradhane and publishing his paper in Japanese language, which is commendable. Though many of our old customs seeing slow death, Mr. Morijiri's interest in our custom and his efforts to revive the same is quite appreciated.

In Kinnigoli, the Mangalore famous "Paardane songs" singer, who also received Karnataka Sahitya award was falicitated during Lions Club meeting. The old woman paardane singer is educated only till primary school. It was told in the meeting, that two foreigners did research on her Paardane songs and were awarded Ph.D by those foreign universities. A leaflet on her achievement and the names of those two foreigners was also distributed during the meeting. It shows how important is our ancient intellectual achievement, but, unfortunately only outsiders have to come and show to us.
