Karkala, Jul 8: Hebri police sub-inspector (PSI), Mahabala Shetty, had left office on the afternoon of Friday July 6, duly leaving behind a resignation letter. He had returned to his native pace, Siddapur in Kundapur taluk, after leaving his job.
It is said that certain persons had registered a case in Hebri police station relating to land dispute in Kaltur Santhekatte within Hebri police station limits. On Friday, district superintendent of police had questioned Shetty about this case.
Higher officers in police department, who came to know about this development, deputed deputy superintendent of police here, Belliappa, and circle inspector, Joy Antony, to speak to the sub-inspector about his grievances. The officers went to the home of Shetty, and convinced him not to insist on leaving the job. They also brought him back to Hebri police station, sources stated.
Shetty had been transferred from Amasebail police station during May last year after his promotion, to Hebri.
On Saturday, office bearers of different organizations handed over memorandum to the district superintendent of police, urging him to convince sub-inspector, Mahabala Shetty, to report for duties. They warned that unless Mahabala Shetty rejoins for duty, a voluntary Hebri bandh would be organized on Monday.
A delegation comprising Karnataka Rakshana Vedike leaders, Prasanna Kumar Shetty, Ansar Ahmed, Mithun Shetty and Prabhakar Poojary, handed over this memorandum. It was received by Karkala police circle inspector, Joy Antony.
