Chitradurga, Jul 8: The district chief and sessions court here has created a record of sorts by completing trial in a murder case and delivering judgement thereon within 11 days.
The case relates to killing of wife by a man by dropping a boulder on his head. The court, which completed hearing, delivered verdict on Saturday, awarding life sentence to the husband, holding him guilty of the said offence.
Parameshwarappa Swamy (75), was given this punishment. He had murdered his wife, Puttamma (63) on June 27 after suspecting her character. Judge of the court, S B Vastrmath, delivered this judgement.
The above judgement has earned a place in the history of judiciary as the fastest criminal case to have been heard and decided. In the past, the record for the fastest trial and judgement stood in favour of a case in Uttar Pradesh, where trial was held and judgement was delivered in 23 days.
