Chitradurga: Court creates record - delivers murder case judgement in 11 days

Daijiworld Media Network - Chitradurga (SP)

Chitradurga, Jul 8: The district chief and sessions court here has created a record of sorts by completing trial in a murder case and delivering judgement thereon within 11 days.

The case relates to killing of wife by a man by dropping a boulder on his head. The court, which completed hearing, delivered verdict on Saturday, awarding life sentence to the husband, holding him guilty of the said offence.

Parameshwarappa Swamy (75), was given this punishment. He had murdered his wife, Puttamma (63) on June 27 after suspecting her character. Judge of the court, S B Vastrmath, delivered this judgement.

The above judgement has earned a place in the history of judiciary as the fastest criminal case to have been heard and decided. In the past, the record for the fastest trial and judgement stood in favour of a case in Uttar Pradesh, where trial was held and judgement was delivered in 23 days.

    Good.
Otherwise, if it took normal course of 11 years instead of 11 days, Parameshwarappa Swamy wouldn't be alive to serve the jail term as he is already 75 year old.

In this case both senior citizens involved and really can't say whether timely judgement has made anyone happy. Instead of life sentence it could have been better sending this super senior citizen to rehabilitation centre if he has no past history of this kind offence. Of course there shouldn't be any lapse on judgement if this is righteous governing.

I think it is high time that we should punish every criminal according to the nature of crime they committed regardless or their age factor, be it senior or juvenile. A criminal is only a criminal no matter how young or old he/she is. May be that's how we can control over juveniles criminals. I seriously and strongly believe in it after coming across so many rape and murder cases committed by juveniles. Punish according to the crime and not the age. Just sharing my opinion, no offense to you intended in any way.

    your comment shows your ignorance.

Many crimes are committed because of psychological issues. Especially in the aged people, the occurrence of these will be more. I bet this man must have had some psychological disorder. It is not correct to categorise everyone in the same manner.

There are people who will not recognize even their offsprings if they have psychological issues like schizophrenia, dementia, bipolar etc

He should have been sent to psychological care

How on earth sharing an opinion becomes ignorance? I'm a graduate btw. Thanks for showing your manners. And yes, next time when some senior citizen or juvenile commit any crime against you or your loved ones just forgive them and don't file any case because he is senior citizen with mental issues or a juvenile who don't know anything. I don't know which world you are living in. My friend, now a days juveniles are hired to do contract killings job, just because criminals knows even if they get caught they will be sent to rehabilitation centre and soon or later they will be set free. And it is not a difficult task to get a fake medical certificate in India just to prove a point of mental illness in court and get away without facing any punishment. There are many loopholes in our constitution and system that are used by many criminals to go unpunished, why should we create one more???

@pooki mangalore,it has nothing to do with ignorance.I just want to know from you,how much you know about scizophreny ?At that age when he doubts about her charactor and kills hitting with a stone, then it is with intention, not some disorder. Dont mix everything. These men from mostly farmers ,not educated, from that area, have quite different idea about their wives.

Wrong judgement.... @ 75 mental health to be ruled out... suspecting his wife , who is 63 itself suggests that insane behaviour... poor trial... very poor judgement.
