Qatar, Oct 1: The dawn of Eid-Ul-Fitr signifies not just the end of the thirty days of fasting for our Muslim brethren, but it also indicates the start of a three-day holiday period of celebration.
Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Qatar, organized a picnic to Al Ruwais Gardens on the first day of the Eid on Tuesday September 30. Al Ruwais is located at the far north of Qatar, about 100 kms from Doha. It was truly a day of fun and frolic, attended by over one hundred members. After assembling at a previously agreed meeting point, the picnickers set forth to the destination in two buses.
After a sumptuous breakfast of sannas and chutney on reaching the destination, games were organized for both children and adults alike. The children had candy and spoon race, apart from passing the doll. The adults had a game of three-legged race, in addition to other popular picnic games like dog and the bone and tug of war. Anthakshari and dumb charades were also played. The traditional and not-to-be missed Bingo was also conducted.
The children had a gala time under the sun, as the garden provided them with a well maintained play area. Both the children and adults later waded into the beach adjoining the garden. After a fulfilling and enjoyable day, exhausted yet rejuvenated, the picnickers made their way back home, carrying pleasant memories of their one-day jaunt.
