Kundapur, Jul 12: In an incident that is reported from Bidkalkatte road under Hombadi Mandady village, Kota police intercepted a vehicle that was transporting cattle illegally and confiscated the same with ten cows.

Kota police, who were conducting a check on vehicles, noticed a white coloured pickup truck. The driver, who saw the police, escaped along with his accomplice leaving the vehicle on the road itself. The cattle and buffaloes were tied to one another in an inhuman manner with ropes to their neck and rear legs in the vehicle.

There were four calves, three cows and two buffaloes in the vehicle. Out of these, one cow and one buffalo were found to be in dead.

The value of the cattle that were found on the vehicle is estimated to be around Rs 23,000 and the cost of the two buffaloes is about Rs 12,000. The value of the Bolero pick up is estimated at Rs 5 lac.

It is learnt from the primary investigation that the pickup belonged to Mohammad Zabrood, a native of Honnavar and Hussain and others from Goliyangady were transporting cattle.

A case in this regard stands registered in Kota police station.

Seeing this,I am speachless.Humans how can they be so ,heartless ,so cruel to animals.Beef ban hin or her, animals should be treated as it should be.here even transport of animals to slaughter house should be looked after complete stressfree. With water, enough place to turn their head etc should be there, otherwise they get heavy fine.what in this picture we see is like dumping in garbage like.Because animals cant tell, speak doesnt mean should be dumped, and malnourished,as if waste. The criminals should be caught and punished as they punished their animals.

Those say those are abandoned animals is wrong . The roads which are built and widened now were the grazing grounds of these cattle’s for ages . Road came on their field with a proper fence or animal crossing. By the way does it mean every living being which are abandoned have slaughtered and treated inhumanly ? Somebody is talking like Salman Khan’s fans who says he drove on people who were sleeping on footpath so he is not guilty .

When there are no religious sentiments involved when PM Modi's central government on 'pink revolution' of beef exports of more than $5 billion, why can't respective state government regularise the trade.
This type inhuman activity can only be curbed when supply demand gap reduces and right for food under constitution is guaranteed.

Such cruelty to this innocent animals are condemnable. If the trade is open for export to serve the tables in foreign countries why the same is not implied for Indians?

This is no doubt cruelty to animals. If it was done illegally, they must punished as per the law of land.
In the mean time, we all should have pity & concern on the victims of lynching because they too are tortured and made to bear the pain when single person is attacked by mob with kicks, slaps, wipping or beaten by sticks, belts mercilessly.

Disheartening scene. Unable to see these cows in this condition. If they are abandoned or found on the road, before transporting in such heinous manner, approach the police, and take them in a decent way.
Two poor animals are dead. If these men were not caught, meat of the dead cows would have been sold in the market without anyone's notice.

    Very sad

Only heartless /ruthless people can treat these speechless animals in the manner in which they have been treated. Irrespective of the background of the people who are involved in this kind of act needs to be caught and punished in the same way they have treated these poor animals. Also whoever has sold these animals to these butchers are also equally responsible for their condition.

Other day some DWreader was telling that it is not possible to load a cattle in alot car . Police r falsely filing cases on minorities now see how many cattels r loaded here. I am surprised how the person(s) in the vehicle can run without beingcaught
Instead police should fire at the legs of the thieves.

This is cruel and inhuman. The guilty should be caught and severely punished. One of the prime reasons for this is the ban on beef which is encouraging these cattle thieves who run illegal slaughter houses to carry on with this trade. The best thing for the government would be to lift the beef ban and encourage scientific cattle breeding.
The fear that the cattle population will dwindle in the country if sale of beef is legalized is silly. Has the cattle population in any of the countries across the globe gone down where they eat beef? In fact it is the other way round. If you ban beef and stop the sale of unproductive cattle then the farmers will give up breeding cattle which they have been doing for centuries. It was said that the local butcher is the farmer's best friend, as farmers would sell their old and unproductive cattle to the butcher and with that money buy new calves and the cycle would continue. Now with all these bans and restrictions the farmers have stopped breeding cattle and are opting for buffaloes instead.
If this trend continues very soon our cattle population will vanish. Many experts have warned the government, but nobody seems to listen and everyone is in a denial mode. For vote politics they are hiding behind the cow and yet knowingly killing it once and for all.

wow.. so by legalizing beef you expect these cattle thieifs to suddenly turn gentle men and lead a honest life? what idiotic logic? these are stolen from our houses and being carried away. it happens on a dalily bais . but you seem be ignorant and busy giving them certificate because you dont have cattle and you have noting to loose.?

why don t you demand that dacoity be legalized and keep your door open all the night?

My friend there was a time we had over 30 bovine's before we sold our farm. This is for your information. Once beef is legal and slaughter houses are streamlined, there is no reason to do things on the sly, as it will no longer be a profitable venture for cattle thieves. It is the same with alcohol. Bootleggers only operate in areas where there is prohibition. When something is available openly and legally, nobody will go to a thief to buy that thing. Unfortunately I don't think you are able to understand demand and supply or business and economics.

You are trying to teach Supply Chain Management fundae instead of focusing on the root cause, that is theft. don't tell me that legalizing will hit the beef price to rock bottom. the price will always be moderately high. no one sells fertile cows or calfs, but then the old cows are not tasty, not profitable.. so what will cattle theifs do? they will steel from our sheds..

I don't think you will be able to understand the problem on the ground because you are prejudiced and bookish, with no understanding of reality

Imagine few years down the line, when all the cattle has vanished, to keep their business running, these cattle thieves will not hesitate to kidnap children and treat them the same way. Mark my words, those days are not far away.
