UAE: Dony Correa, Asha Fernandes March into Finals

Dubai, Oct 3: Gulf Voice of Mangalore contest mastered by the Youth Recreation Centre and Rising Stars Kuwait is gaining much hype and popularity, as the semi-finals rounds are taking place around the Gulf.
After the Muscat semi-finals on Oct 2, UAE organised this region's semi-final in Dubai. Mangalore Konkans, known as the best and most disciplined organisation in this part of the world, hosted the Gulf Voice of Mangalore in Dubai on Oct 3, 2008 at Indian Consulate. The event took-off at 6.30 pm.
14 contestants reached the semis and performed with an extremely professional manners, well as everyone was greeted and admired by the panel of jury which consists of legendary Konkani musicians of Wilfy Rebimbus, Melwyn Peris and Joel Pereira.
At the end it was Dony Correa who led the team and grabbed 124 points whereas Asha Fernandes with 118 points qualified for the Finals to be held in Kuwait on Oct 17, 2008.
32-year-old Dony Correa, a young and enthusiastic artiste who excels not only in singing but also in acting, compering, singing and sports did it once again as he used to win several singing competitions in the UAE and back home during the past few years.
31-year-old Asha Fernandes nee Pinto, housewife from Dubai who has developed her singing skills through hard work and dedication rose to the occasion with well deserved winning place. She was admired by WIlfy Rebimbus for her presentation, variation of voice and quality of Voice.
Speaking to Daijiworld both Dony and Asha expressed thier happiness, explaining their achievements as 'dreams come true'.
Earlier, 14 selected and talented singers rendered their voices and it was a tough job for the jury to give their judgement.
To wrap-up the event, most deserving two candidates won not only, prizes but also hundreds of hearts of the fabulous audience at the Indian Consulate hall.
Mangalore Konkans organised this event as one of their programmes to commemorate thier glorious 20th anniversary event.

Alwyn Pinto Dubai compered the stage event and the initial opening ceremony. Mangalore Konkans president James Mendonca welcomed the gathering. Valerian Peris, chief co-ordinator of the GOM UAE Chapter spoke on the occasion and thanked all those who worked hard to make this event an unprecedented success, along with those who supported the event.
Lawrence Pinto, one of the main organisers from Kuwait was also present and he explained how people helped them to make this event popular.
Lesly Rego, famous compere from Mangalore beautifully and well professionally compered the event. He never let to any single moment go wasted and bored.
