Mangaluru, Jul 17: "Because of the unscientific work that is being carried out on NH 66, the number of accidents is rising. Why do we need a member of parliament (MP), who cannot construct a 40 kilometre road? How many more years are required to complete the work?" questioned, Ivan D'Souza, MLC.
He was speaking at a press conference conducted in his office on Monday, July 16.
Continuing his barrage against MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Ivan said, "Drainage water that needs to be flown in a drain is flowing on the road in areas like Pumpwell, Nanthoor, Kottara Chowki and Mulky. The toll charges are being collected without completing the highway work. Is it right on the part of the MP to express helplessness in stopping the collection of toll charges?”
"It has been 10 years since Nalin Kumar Kateel became the MP of Dakshina Kannada district. Prior to him, D V Sadananda Gowda was the MP. During this period they have not done any development except constructing state and national highways. Though the national highway is in a bad condition, maintenance of the same is not done. Flyovers in both districts including the one at Padubidri are not completed,” he added.
"What is the mystery behind the silence of both Shobha Karandlaje and Nalin Kumar Kateel? If the highway work is not completed, we might have to resort to protest by stalling the traffic on highways," he warned.
