Beltangady, Jul 28: The news about the recovery of the mortal remains of Yashavantsai (15) a resident of Hoodi in Bengaluru and student of a school in Doorvani Nagar in Bengaluru, at Guruvayanakere here hit the family of the boy as a bolt from the blue. The death of the boy has been mysterious and the fact that a missed call had been received in the cellphone belonging to Yashavantsai's aunt on Wednesday midnight, recovery of the boy's body that had his favourite T-shirt on, and recovery of two SIM cards, have added to the confusion about the boy's death. Added to the confusion is the message which says, 'I should work in Udupi in five months'.
Yashavantsai was the son of N V Prem Kumar from Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh. He grew up at the house of his grandfather, Muniswamy, living at Hoodi, Bengaluru. Yashavantsai dreamed of swimming in Arabian Sea at Mangaluru and to soar in the sky with the help of parachute. The family had visited Dharmasthala a few weeks back, and at the insistence of the boy, the family had undertaken trip to the beach at Udupi. However, because of the onset of monsoon, both parachute and boating were found to have been suspended. Yashavantsai’s aunt, Suvarna, had pacified the boy who was disturbed by this development. She reportedly promised him to bring him back to the beach after the monsoon season.
On Tuesday morning, Yashavantsai had left his home as usual for going to school. He went to Majestic area at Bengaluru, and out of Rs 2,000 he had with him, he bought three cloth towels, and a pair of footwear. He had taken with him the smart watch that was very dear to him, Adhar card, birth certificate, and Nan Chaku instrument used in martial art belonging to him. Suvarna says that he boarded a bus to Mangaluru and got down at Beltangady.
There are missing links and hence the family and the police are unable to guess why the boy left home, why he got down here, what made him to end his life, and whether someone else was involved with his death.
