Mangalore: Mangalorean Jeevan Kiran Finally Released by Somalian Pirates

Mangalore, Oct 10: Liguory and Bridgit D’Souza, residents of Kayyar, near Kasargod, have been successful in getting the good news as their son was released by the pirates in Somalia after keeping hostage for almost two months.
Their son Jeevan Kiran D’Souza, working in an Iranian ship was abducted in Somalia on August 21, 2008. They were detained in an island called Eyl in Somalia, in their ship ‘Iran Deynat.’ The pirates demanded huge sum of money for the release of the ship and the crew.
The ship authorities had a negotiation with the pirates for weeks. Finally, they have been successful in getting the ship and the crew released. The ship authorities had to pay a whopping amount of money for the release of crew, sources said.
Along with Jeevan, two other Indians, that is, Akbar from Ratnagiri and Anthony from Goa were also hijacked by the pirates
It is learnt that the released crew has already left the Eyl Island. They would reach their homeland within few days, sources confirmed.
