Bengaluru: CM Kumaraswamy wants investments in state's tier-2 cities

Bengaluru, Aug 3 (IANS): To provide relief to a choked Bengaluru busting at seams, Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday told investors to set up their manufacturing units or services centres in tier-2 cities across the southern state.

"I appeal to investors to locate their industries or services centres beyond Bengaluru in tier-2 cities like Mysuru, Hassan, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Belagavi and Kalaburagi for uniform development and job creation," Kumaraswamy told about 100 chief executives of the IT and biotech industry here.

Interacting with the heads of IT and BT sectors at a meeting on the 21st Bengaluru Tech Summit (November 29-December 1), the Chief Minister said his government was committed to encourage investments and job creation in tier-2 cities and towns for all-round growth of the state.

"I have committed to invest Rs 500 crore in the state budget for fiscal 2018-19 to set up skill development centres in tier-2 and tier-3 cities across the state for training our youth, graduating from higher secondary schools and colleges," he asserted.

Assuring the state government's support to the captains of the industry, Kumaraswamy said he would set up a special cell in his office for speedy approvals and enhance the ease of doing business in the state.

"As announced in the state budget on July 5, industrial clusters will be set up in some districts under the 'Compete with China' programme to make farm machinery at Bidar, solar equipment at Kalaburagi, electronic toys at Koppal, garments at Ballari and ALED bulbs unit at Chitradurga," said Kumaraswamy.

As the state is well known for innovation hub, the state government will set up a Karnataka Innovation Authority through a legislation in the next assembly session to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, including floating start-ups.

State Major Industries, IT, BT, Science & Technology Minister K.J. George said on the occasion that the JD(S)-Congress coalition government would support the growth of IT and BT sectors in the state.

State Social Welfare Minister Priyank Kharge said the state government would soon initiate a programme on rural entrepreneurship for uniform growth in the state.

Karnataka IT vision chairman and Infosys co-founder S. Gopalakrishna, Additional Chief Secretary E.V. Ramana Reddy and IT & BT Principal Secretary Gaurav Gupta participated in the meeting.

Finally some sensible concept ,we get to see from our CM.Really commendable. For the overall development of our state we need to pamper all the developing cities and zones.Giving privilege to only Bengaluru leads to GDP imbalance of the state.

Please make organic farming hub in haveri, raichur, tumkur, kolar etc these areas. Why dont the MPs and mla s send memorandam to cm.He is ahuman being afterall he cannot concentrate at ones on all districts, its district incharge ministers should be capable of reaching him.

Bijapur,Badami,Hampi,Bagalkot should be made archaeological hub.Archaelogical centres should be established here. This way the outer population accumulated in Bengaluru will extend and gets balanced.

I hope all district in charge ministers will be able to think selflessly and do good for their local people.

Then it ll be great prosperity for karnataka and its people.Other state should also follow this .

I appreciate CM Kumaraswamy idea of investments in state's tier-2 cities. But I would request instead of choosing Mangalore I would request his government consider 'Karwar' which has huge potential. The city Mangalore doesn't deserve 'development' and choosed 'Hindutva'. The moral police, pub attacks, morning mist attack, cow vigilantism has brought shame to Karnataka and proof that city is not investor friendly.

I would also request CM Kumaraswamy to consider Hyderabad Karnataka for medical equipment zone, domestic scale clean energy, agricultural storage, for perishables and aviation spares.

Great. If our people become focussed, sensible speak and write sense all politicians will fall in line.
Germany showed their Govt, how to lower the crude oil prices, we can teach our politicians, what we appreciate and expect. It's not easy to fool wise and hard working voters

Kumaraswamy is very matured politician now, in his last term all he did was going from temple to temple. This time he seems to be focussed, perhaps watched Siddaramaiah's development work and his work ethics.

If corrupt & scheming Siddu was focussed on Development, Congress would not have been 78 seats from 123 seats and begging 37 seat regional party JD(S) to be CM. Understand reality

Bengaluru , the capital city of Karnataka is the main revenue generator of the state. Benglauru's revenues are used for development is other cities across Karnataka. We need uniform development across tier-2 and tier3 cities Karnataka to reduce burden on Bengaluru and stop Bengaluru from dying.

Bengaluru to other states in karnataka is peanuts. Mangalore contributes highest to Bengaluru than other cities by revenue generated through Mrpl, and other industries in Mangalore. Mescom gets highest revenue to kptcl.

I can understand Mysore, Hubli, Belgaum, Hassan. Where on earth is this Kulabargi coming from? Just for pleasing some voters and locals, Kumarswamy seems to be toying with the idea of having second capital and now the investments in Godforsaken places.
