Mangaluru, Aug 4: A lorry hit a bike on Saturday, August 4 morning and the rider died on the spot.

The deceased Prajwal D'Souza (24) worked as a watchman and was going to Nanthoor from Padil. The lorry which hit from behind did not stop. The rider was trapped under the lorry and hence was pulled for many meters which would have caused more injuries to him.

It took a long time for the ‘108’ ambulance to arrive to the spot. Once the ambulance staff discovered that rider was dead, they refused to take the body. A private ambulance was called later which took the body to Wenlock hospital.

Deceased Prajwal D'Souza was from Puttur and stayed in Padil to work as a watchman in city.

The lorry driver is absconding.

Police are investigating.

Here is another case of an accident. From the account given it looks that the lorry driver did not care. These kind of accidents and accidental deaths are on the increase. Perhaps it is expedient that SPEED GOVERNORS are fitted on all heavy vehicles plying within the City.

    Rest in peace.
After 4 lane started many accident happen between Padil to Maroli road this because of unscientific roads and national highway should be sole responsible for accident, there in no proper foot path neither rainy water way to go. So it's high time for National highway department to get alert.

Dead or alive, if 108 is not willing to undertake their job, stop 108 services all over. 99% of the time the driver is under influence of alcohol and no concerned medical professional in the ambulance. Experienced it few months back when I was unwell. Ambulance came without any help or professional in it and road side people had to assist because the driver said he only drives.

Why will he not surrender? He will after alcohol in his blood comes down....
Govt should bring law, if any driver absconds after accident, it should be presumed by law that he is drunk and punish him accordingly.
